Squeeze Play If you successfully bunt the ball on the ground, you are almost guaranteed to score a run. However, if you miss the bunt or swing and miss, it could be a disaster. When the pitcher begins their motion, the runner on third base will automatically start running. If the ball is popped up for a fly out, the runner on third will be out, completely ending the scoring opportunity. No matter what, make sure to bunt the ball onto the ground.

Steal Stance Activating this sign sets the batter to a temporary stance that makes stealing bases easier during the current at-bat. Pressing the Y button will prevent the runner on third base from starting. The "Assist" function of the batting cursor will be disabled. In other words, even if there are runners on both first and third base, only the runner on first will start running when pressing Y. Additionally, since the batting cursor "Assist" is disabled, you can intentionally swing and miss to help facilitate the steal.

Hit and Run When the pitcher begins their pitching motion, the runner on first base will automatically start running. The runner on third base will not start running. Since the runner on first starts moving as the pitch is thrown, infielders will move to cover bases, creating gaps in the defense and increasing the chances of a hit. If executed well, the runner on first can advance all the way to third base. The runner on first is not stopping like in a stolen base attempt, so it is crucial to make contact with the ball. If the batter fails to make contact, there is a risk that the runner on second will be thrown out. Make sure to hit the ball no matter what. If a pickoff attempt is made, runners will automatically return to their bases.

Sacrifice Bunt This strategy sacrifices the batter’s out to successfully advance the runner into scoring position, increasing the scoring opportunity. This is a useful tactic in close games. When executing a sacrifice bunt, the runner will quickly start running once the ball is bunted. If the batter does not bunt despite the bunt sign being given, the runners will behave as if no sign was given. If the batter assumes the bunt stance before the pitcher begins their motion, the sacrifice bunt strategy will be automatically executed.

Ground Ball Go The runner on third base will start running as soon as the ball is hit on the ground, no matter what. If the ball is hit directly at a fielder, the runner may be thrown out at home, but depending on the hit, even an infield grounder can result in a run. This is a high-risk, high-reward strategy, best used in the late stages of a close game when scoring a single run is crucial.
